Nanoparticle Functionalization & Characterization

Functionalization, characterization and quality control of plasmonic nanoparticles for high-performance bioassays.

Nanoparticle Functionalization Services

  • Specialized functionalization of nanoparticles for bioassay development, supporting lateral flow, microfluidic-based and other test kits.
  • Precise functionalization to meet your assay’s specific requirements, optimizing performance and reliability.

Our scientists help you select the most suitable nanoparticles and their characteristics (such as functional groups) based on the intrinsic properties of the molecules to be attached and the intended application. The number of antibodies attached to the nanoparticle surface is calculated and optimized. Our unique functionalization method can enhance assay sensitivity by up to twofold compared to other techniques.

Nanoparticle Characterization Services

  • Comprehensive characterization including concentration, size distribution and aggregation state — ensuring quality and consistency in your preparations.
  • We use proprietary Dark-Field Single Particle Spectrophotometry (DF-SPS) and Amplitude-Resolved Single Particle Spectrophotometry to characterize plasmonic nanoparticles.
  • Novel characterization techniques for plasmonic-magnetic nanoparticles.
  • High-resolution SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) imaging for detailed structural insights.

Quantification of Molecule Concentrations

  • We accurately quantify the concentrations of molecules attached to surfaces and nanoparticles — antibodies, streptavidin, -COOH groups, and more.
  • Precise measurements that give you the confidence to move forward with your research or product development.

Mecwins has developed a range of strategies for characterizing the surface of nanoparticles. When direct quantification is not feasible (e.g. interference from gold), we use an indirect method measuring the fluorescence of a dye solution before and after it reacts with the nanoparticles — letting customers control functionalization quality and assess batch-to-batch variability.

Nanometrology of Chemical Surfaces

  • Our experts characterize chemical and biological layers with sub-nanometer resolution, providing critical QC data to ensure consistency and reliability in surface functionalization.
